Becoming a DMU placement provider
Why Become an Optometry Placement Provider at DMU?
Partnering with De Montfort University Master of Optometry programme allows your practice to support the next generation of optometrists while strengthening your links with a forward-looking optometry school.
By hosting DMU students, your practice can contribute to professional education, support workforce development, and gain early access to talented future clinicians.
Benefits of Becoming a Placement Provider
- Support students in applying theoretical knowledge in real clinical settings
- Contribute to the development of skilled, confident, practice-ready clinicians
- Build strong professional relationships with DMU and the wider optometry community
- Gain early insight into talented future graduates for potential recruitment
- Demonstrate your practice’s commitment to professional education and the future of optometry
DMU students undertake several short placement experiences of two weeks (10 days) in Years 1, 2, and 3 of the Master of Optometry programme. In their final year, students undertake an extended Clinical Learning in Practice (CLiP) placement, providing deeper supervised clinical experience.
This flexible structure allows practices to engage at a level that suits their capacity.
