De Montfort University student nurses use an online tool to document their progress throughout their practice learning experiences: ePAD.

Follow this link to view the ePAD: https://dmu.epads.mkmapps.com

This page contains some helpful guidance for Practice Assessors, Practice Supervisors, and Nominated Guides using the ePAD.

For ePAD technical support, such as errors or difficulties setting up and logging in to accounts, contact the helpdesk.

Setting up your account

At the start of each placement, your student will allocate you as either their Practice Assessor or Supervisor. Guidance from the NMC for what PAs and PSs do can be found here.

If you already have an account, this will link you to the student and you will now be able to see them on your home page. If you are a new ePAD user, you will receive an email instructing you to register your account. Alternatively, you can go to the ePAD homepage and follow the “If you require account activation, click here” link. Once your account is activated, your student will be visible on your homepage.

Completing each interview

Three interviews should take place between the Student and Practice Assessor during each placement.

  1. The Initial Interview in the first week.
  2. The midpoint interview in the middle of the placement.
  3. The final interview in the final week of placement.

The first two interviews can be completed with a Practice Supervisor if the PA is unavailable. The outcome of these should be fed back to the PA as soon as practical.

The following document talks Students, PAs and PSs through each step of each interview. Consider printing this out for your records (such as in your student link folder):
